The “Base Ball Association,” the first organized sport at the University, was founded in 1882. Baseball remained popular and enjoyed a number of undefeated seasons in the early decades of the Twentieth Century.
The “golden years” for baseball at CU included the championship teams of 1939-41 coached by Harry Carlson. John Stearns was selected to the All-American team in 1973.
In 1980, the sport lost its varsity status.
