The CU Buff Ski Club was incredibly popular in the 1940s. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s the varsity ski team made headlines with Olympic stars, such as Johnny Dendahl, Jimmy Heuga, Buddy Werner, and Billy Kidd, competing for CU. Women skiers joined the varsity ski teams, both Nordic and Alpine, in the 1970s. In 1982 the CU women’s and men’s ski teams were NCAA champions. Team rosters have included over 100 All-America selections and the ski team has won 16 NCAA championships, more than any other sport at the University of Colorado.
